Michael McCabe

Michael “Mick” J McCabe is the Chief Data and Artificial Intelligence Officer for the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security (USD(I&S)). In this role Mr. McCabe supports data integration, the AI adoption in the Defense and Security Enterprise (DISE), and interoperability between DoD and IC.

Mr. McCabe has extensive experience as a senior data engineer and previously served as the Defense Intelligence Agency’s Deputy Chief Data Officer and Chief of Data Engineering & Delivery. His prior positions include serving as DIA’s Deputy Chief Technology Officer, Deputy Chief of the Office of Technical Operations and as the Chief of Applied Research. Mr. McCabe was a member of the Augmenting Intelligence with Machines study conducted by the IC and participated in multiple groups charged with data modernization. As a soldier, Mr. McCabe provided technical support to intelligence operations. Mr. McCabe is a veteran of the Balkan Peace Keeping Operations, the Kosovo Campaign, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and the Global War on Terror. 

Mr. McCabe has a BA in Economics and History from King’s College and an MS in National Security Strategy from the National War College.
