Katherine Bukolt

Ms. Katherine M. Bukolt leads the planning programming, and budgeting for the acquisition of MARS. She ensures technical solutions are executed to transform Department of Defense (DoD) foundational military intelligence into an eco-system to support all-source data discovery and dissemination for analysts to provide warfighters with decision information advantage to win wars.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Bukolt served as the Deputy Director for Intelligence, Headquarters North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), both headquartered at Peterson Space Force Base Colorado. In this capacity she provided the NORAD and USNORTHCOM J2 with senior leadership and management for nearly 300 military civilian, and contract employees who provide intelligence support to the combatant commander, senior staff regions and components.
From 2019 to 2021, Ms. Bukolt was the Deputy Chief of Analysis in the Middle East/Africa Regional Center (MARC) at DIA Headquarters where she was responsible to the MARC Chief and to the Director for Analysis (DI) for the quality of analytic production and adherence to Intelligence Community and DIA analytic tradecraft standards. She provided strategic leadership, and managed the full spectrum of defense intelligence capabilities for the MARC during several periods of increased tension. From 2017 to 2019, Ms. Bukolt served as the Senior Defense Intelligence Analyst for Enterprise Management in the Directorate for Analysis. She assisted the DI in his role as the DoD Functional Manager for All-source Analysis to oversee analytic capacity, capability, and risk at intelligence production centers at DIA, the service intelligence centers, and the combatant command joint intelligence operations centers. From 2010 to 2017 she was the Senior Expert for Counterterrorism and Homeland Defense in the Directorate of Intelligence at ORAD and USNORTHCOM. She began her civilian career in 2004 as a senior terrorism analyst at NORAD and USNORTHCOM.
Ms. Bukolt earned her Bachelor's degree in Government at the University of Notre Dame in 1993 where she was also commissioned from the Navy ROTC program. She continued her academic studies with a Master's degree in Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Chicago, and she completed aval War College and Joint Forces Command and Staff College by correspondence as a reservist. She served a total of eight years on active duty with the U.S. Navy, including two recalls to active duty as a reservist. She retired from the Navy reserve in 2015.
