Christopher Gibson

Chris Gibson is a Senior Advisor for the National Background Investigation Services (NBIS) in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security (OUSD(I&S)). In this capacity, Mr. Gibson serves as the primary focal point and lead integrator for NBIS, advising the OUSD(I&S) and DoD leadership on development and execution of all aspects of the NBIS program across the three core pillars of technology, acquisition, and governance.

Mr. Gibson has extensive experience leading, managing, and overseeing IT programs both in the government and private sector to leverage technology to improve mission outcomes. Prior to joining the OUSD(I&S), Mr. Gibson served as a Senior Advisor at the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) spearheading the transition to a new IT service delivery model to improve mission outcomes for NCTC, interagency partners, and the overall counterterrorism mission. Additionally, he supported the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board (PIAB) as a Co-Chair on the Interagency Committee on Unauthorized Disclosures where he led efforts to reduce the frequency and impact of unauthorized disclosures. Before that Mr. Gibson was the Chief of the Data Science and Innovation Group at NCTC, where he spearheaded initiatives to develop and apply innovative technology solutions to enhance the Federal Government’s response to terrorism. Mr. Gibson began his career in the private sector advising the Intelligence Community on applying advanced technology to improve mission outcomes and joined ODNI in 2011 as an IT project manager.

Mr. Gibson is the recipient of numerous commendations, to include several Director of National Intelligence Awards and a National Intelligence Meritorious Unit Citation. He currently serves on the Board of Brite Paths, an organization focused on providing financial assistance, financial education, and workforce development services to the local Fairfax community. Mr. Gibson holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from James Madison University and a Master’s in Business Administration from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He is a lifelong Virginian, a devoted husband, and the proud father of two boys.
