Common Threads Charlottesville

On Tuesday, December 16, INSA brought together more than 200 intelligence and national security professionals at the Boar’s Head Resort for its second Common Threads Charlottesville breakfast program, featuring a keynote and panel discussion focused on national security priorities, regional mission impact, and the partnerships driving collaboration across government, industry, and academia.
Following the networking breakfast, Mr. Meriwether Anderson Sale, Jr., Director of Operations, U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM), delivered keynote remarks on the recently released National Security Strategy, INSCOM’s priorities for the year ahead, and how the Army Intelligence Enterprise is modernizing to address national security challenges.
The program continued with a panel discussion with COL Jay McGee, Commander, National Ground Intelligence Center, Elizabeth Mitchell, Chief, NGA-Charlottesville, Dr. Phil Potter, Executive Director, UVA’s National Security Data and Policy Institute, and Emily Kilroy, Director of Economic Development, Albemarle County. The discussion was moderated by Mark Munsell, Former Chief AI Officer, NGA.
Panelists addressed current national security challenges and opportunities, highlighted the growing role of Charlottesville, Albemarle County, and Rivanna Station to the intelligence and national security mission, and emphasized the need for sustained collaboration across the public, private, and academic sectors.
Following the formal program, INSA hosted a site tour of the Rivanna Futures site.
