Ms. McMillian kicked off the program by providing an overview of Supply Chain Security Integrity Month and the campaign's evolution since its launch in 2019, highlighting this year's emphasis on Acquisition, Cyber, and Enterprise Security (ACE). This strategic shift reflects a deeper understanding of the multifaceted threats facing critical infrastructure and supply chains. She urged organizations to integrate acquisition security principles and cybersecurity due diligence into their operations. Ms. McMillian noted that the collaborative theme, ACE, underscores the necessity of playing the ace card in supply chain security amidst rising foreign adversaries.
The discussion then delved into the challenges posed by emerging technologies to supply chain integrity and the imperative to secure critical sectors such as semiconductors and AI. With insights on collaborative initiatives between government and industry, like the Chips Act and the creation of the Cybersecurity Collaboration Center, the conversation underscored the importance of collective action in bolstering supply chain resilience against evolving threats. Amidst increasing strategic competition, particularly with China, she noted that proactive measures including comprehensive risk awareness, information sharing, and prioritizing security efforts are essential steps towards mitigating supply chain disruptions and safeguarding national interests.
