Developed by the ICC this helpful guide is designed to help IC professionals identify organizations that provide mentoring and leadership development opportunities. This page contains information about various organizations, target audiences, existence of formal or informal mentoring programs, and site links. The ICC will update this information periodically; however, we suggest you click on the program links for the most current information. In providing this reference, we are neither endorsing nor advertising for any program, rather hoping to help you reduce time searching and to spend that time growing!

Amazing Women of the Intelligence Community (AWIC)

Asian American Government Executives Network (AAGEN)
Focus: Federal Government

Description:  AAGEN is dedicated to promoting, expanding, and supporting Asian American and Pacific Islander leadership in Government.

 

Executive Women's Forum (EWF)

Focus: Federal Government

Description: The EWF is designed to engage, develop, and advance all women in the Information Security, IT Risk Management and Privacy fields, through education, leadership development and the creation of trusted relationships.

Federal Asian Pacific American Council (FAPAC)
Focus: Federal Government

Description: The FAPAC promotes equal opportunity and cultural diversity for Asian Pacific Americans (APA) within the Federal and District of Columbia government.

Leadership Council for Women in National Security (LCWINS)

Description: LCWINS advances gender parity in U.S. national security and foreign policy leadership by supporting women’s ascension to the highest levels of decision-making.

 

National Security Executives and Professionals Association (NSEPA)

Description: The NSEPA promotes competitiveness into senior levels of the U.S. Government National Security Enterprise by sponsoring professional development and career enhancement opportunities for ethnically diverse employees and women with an emphasis on African Americans.

 

Women of Color Advancing Peace, Security, and Conflict Transformation (WCAPS)
Focus: National Security

Description: The WCAPS created a platform devoted to women of color that cultivates a strong voice and network for its members while encouraging dialogue and strategies for engaging in policy discussions on an international scale.

 

Women in Defense (WID)
Focus: National Security
Mentoring Program: Yes

Description: The WID traces its roots to 1979 when a group of women saw the need for an organization dedicated to networking and professional development within the defense and national security workspace. We welcome all women and men working in defense and national security to join WID. Membership provides access to a broad national network of women and men working in government, the defense industry, and academia.

African American Federal Executive Association (AAFEA)
Focus: Federal Government
Description: The AAFEA is dedicated to preparing and supporting African Americans for advancement into and within the senior ranks of the United States Government.

 

 

Defense Entrepreneurs Forum (DEF)
Focus: National Security

Description: The DEF convenes events, forges partnerships, and delivers tangible solutions to promote a culture of innovation in the U.S. National Security Community.

 

Emerging Professionals in the Intelligence Community (EPIC)
Focus: Intelligence

Description: The AFCEA EPIC Committee is focused on developing leaders, networking, and giving back to the IC.

 

The Association of Former Intelligence Officers (AFIO)
Focus: Intelligence

Description: The AFIO seeks to build a public constituency for a sound, healthy, and capable U.S. Intelligence System by educating and nurturing the interests of students in careers in the many fields used by U.S. Intelligence Agencies.

Women in Aerospace (WIA)
Focus: Other

Description: The WIA is dedicated to expanding women’s opportunities for leadership and increasing their visibility in the aerospace community.

 

Young Professionals in Foreign Policy (YPFP)
Focus: Federal Government

Description: The YPFP works to build the next generation of foreign policy leaders by providing members with capacity-building programs, engaging events, a global community of peers, and opportunities to elevate their voices through writing and publication.
