On Wednesday, April 29th, Sue Kalweit, the Director of the Analysis Directorate at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), joined INSA's second Wednesday Wisdom webinar where she discussed the power of humility when leading in times of crisis. Kalweit considers humility to be “the intentional behavior of continuously learning from each other in a psychologically safe environment, where everyone’s ideas, regardless of title, rank or expertise, have merit."
Director Kalweit detailed how she has had to lead her team during a pandemic, all the while continuing to produce top intelligence. NGA has continued to push a number of initiatives forward and she is seeing positive results. The pandemic has allowed her to engage with her team in unique ways and made clear that it is critical to bring a sense of connectivity to every type of work environment. The idea of implementing humility in her leadership style is something that Ms. Kalweit plans to take with her once the COVID-19 pandemic has passed.
