Arlington, VA (March 10, 2021)—Intelligence and National Security Alliance (INSA) President Suzanne Wilson Heckenberg issued the following statement regarding the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, which passed the House today and is expected to be signed into law by President Biden on Friday, March 12, 2021:
“INSA welcomes the passage of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, which includes a key provision that will help preserve the jobs of thousands of federal contractors performing vital classified national security work.
By extending authorities provided by Section 3610 of the CARES Act (P.L. 116-136) through September 30, 2021, Congress ensured that the government can continue to draw on the expertise of thousands of highly skilled federal contractors who perform mission-critical classified work for the Intelligence Community, the Department of Defense, and other national security agencies.
INSA appreciates the leadership of Senators Mark Warner (D-VA) and Marco Rubio (R-FL), the chair and vice chair of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, in driving Congress to extend 3610 authorities. Their collaboration—and the Senate’s passage of their amendment regarding 3610 extension by a vote of 93-6—demonstrated the overwhelming bipartisan support for the federal contractor workforce.”
