(Arlington, VA) June 5, 2020 --All of us at INSA are appalled by the recent events in our country. From the tragic deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and, sadly, many others, to the continuing nationwide calls for justice, we realize we must speak out. Black lives matter. We stand in solidarity with those fighting the scourge of racism.
Diversity and inclusion are two of INSA’s guiding principles. Yet we know that as an organization we can and must do better. While there are no easy answers, we commit to holding ourselves accountable – by listening, learning, and leading through example.
Going forward, we will look to reshape our programs to ensure the content and opportunities better align and advance all segments of our community. In addition, we will seek out partners that advance equity and diverse viewpoints. And we will address diversity and representation within our own workforce through reevaluating our internal processes, investing in education for our employees, and ensuring all feel welcome and valued.
It is incumbent on each of us to do the work to identify, challenge, and change the values, structures, and behaviors that perpetuate injustice. Please let us know how we can better serve all members of our community and strive to ensure equality and fairness for all.
