2018 INSA Speed Mentoring Event

INSA’s Intelligence Champions Council will host a unique professional development event for individuals serving in or pursuing careers related to intelligence, national security, or homeland security on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the INSA Conference Center.

The INSA Speed Mentoring Event provides opportunities for formal and informal discussion with senior leaders from government, industry, and academia. In a small-group setting, mentors discuss their unique careers paths, share advice, and address mentees’ questions. Mentees include undergraduate and graduate students seeking to understand how to break into the intelligence field, early and mid-career professionals seeking a career change, and other intelligence professionals interested in building connections across the community.

INSA is very pleased to have Dr. Jason Matheny, director of Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA), keynote the 2018 Speed Mentoring Event. Dr. Matheny became IARPA's director in 2015, after serving as a program manager, associate office director, and office director. Before IARPA, he worked at Oxford University, the World Bank, the Applied Physics Laboratory, the Center for Biosecurity and Princeton University, and is the co-founder of two biotechnology companies.

Dr. Matheny holds a Ph.D. in applied economics from Johns Hopkins University, an M.P.H. from Johns Hopkins University, an M.B.A. from Duke University and a B.A. from the University of Chicago. He received the Intelligence Community's Award for Individual Achievement in Science and Technology.
