Happening on Tuesday, September 29, from 5:00-6:30 pm ET (2:00-3:30 pm MT), this INSA event will bring together IC professionals from across the country to discuss the importance of establishing strong, collaborative relationships between the public, private, and academic sectors. The program kicks off with keynote remarks from David Gauthier, Director, Commercial and Business Operations, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), followed by a panel discussion and the opportunity for audience Q&A.

The discussion will address a range of topics, including:

  • Pulling together a remote community
  • Building bridges across agencies and connecting missions
  • Establishing trust outside the Intelligence Community
  • Fostering public, private, and academic collaboration

Get to Know the Keynote

David Gauthier serves as the Director of NGA's Commercial and Business Operations Group and is the Chair of the IC Commercial Remote Sensing Working Group. Previously, he served as the Chief Strategy Officer at NGA. Over the course of his 20+ year career, Mr. Gauthier has spent time leading various intelligence operations and programs for the U.S. Air Force, government organizations, and private industry, during which he gained experience with a range of technical collection systems and analytic innovations. Mr. Gauthier has two Master's degrees from the University of Colorado at Boulder in Aerospace Engineering and Telecommunications Science.

 

Meet the Panel

Darren Turner, Director, NSA Colorado

Lauryl Chestnutt has been the Deputy Director for NGA-Denver since September 2019. She originally started with the agency on military orders in 2005, after which she transitioned to a contractor role supporting NGA in Denver in 2008. Most recently, Ms. Chestnutt served as the Deputy for the NGA Support Team to NORAD and USNORTHCOM. During her over 20-year career in the U.S. Navy, Ms. Chestnutt completed both active duty and reserve assignments. Notably, she has worked for Strike Fighter Squadron 127, ONI, Atlantic Command, FBI, DIA, European Command, Naval Forces Europe, and Strategic Command. She is the recipient of multiple Joint Service Commendation medals and Navy Commendation medals, among other awards.

Jacque Brewer is a GEOINT officer as well as the Denver Division Chief for NGA. Ms. Brewer's past positions include assignments as a manager and analyst in the Air Force Intelligence Analysis Agency and as an analyst at the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) in Tampa, Florida, and at the CIA. In 2019, she co-founded Rocky Mountain INTELligent Women, a group that provides networking opportunities to intelligence and defense professionals as well as students interested in intelligence-related professions. While earning her Bachelor's degree from The Catholic University of America, Ms. Brewer served in the national headquarters of a major U.S. political party and was a member of the first group of U.S. interns in the British Parliament.

Katherine Mills serves as the Compliance Manager for the University of Colorado Boulder's Center for National Security Initiatives, a multi-disciplinary research center that she helped to establish earlier this year. Ms. Mills got her start in the Intelligence Community working as an international business development contractor in Northern Virginia before shifting to export control work and later to classified military and intelligence analysis and operations. In 2015, she moved to Denver, CO to support the University of Colorado Boulder as an Export Controls Analyst and spent time working as the Director of International Trade Compliance for Boom Supersonic, an aviation start-up based in Colorado.

(moderator) Colonel Jen Sovada (U.S. Air Force, Ret.), joined MissionTech Solutions as its Chief Futures Officer and Senior Vice President/General Manager in December 2019. Before moving to the private sector, Col. Sovada served for over 25 years as an Air Force Intelligence Officer and held high-level positions across the Intelligence Community, including Chief of Talent Management for the Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance and Cyber Effects Operations; and Wing Commander of the Air Force Technical Applications Center. She is listed as a Forbes Top 50 AI in Government Influencer and currently sits as the Vice Chair of INSA's Intelligence Champions Council.
