Just six short months into his tenure as NGA Director, VADM Sharp will discuss steps being taken to execute his vision and evolve the agency’s business model, including:
- strengthening relationships with government, international, industry and academic partners,
- recruiting and retaining a world-class, diverse workforce, and
- posturing NGA for continued mission success.
Following his formal remarks, VADM Sharp will participate in a moderated Q&A with INSA Chairman Tish Long.
About Vice Admiral Robert D. Sharp
Vice Admiral Robert Sharp became the seventh director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) on February 7, 2019. In this capacity, he leads and directs the NGA under the authorities of the Secretary of Defense and Director of National Intelligence. Previously, he served as Commander, Office of Naval Intelligence, and Director, National Maritime Intelligence-Integration Office. During his initial flag assignment, VADM Sharp served as the Director for Intelligence (J2), U.S. Special Operations Command.
VADM Sharp's accolades include the Vice Admiral Rufus L. Taylor Award for Excellence in Intelligence Instruction, the U.S. Army's Knowlton Award for Military Intelligence, Rear Admiral Edwin T. Layton Leadership and Mentorship Award, and the Naval Intelligence Foundation Navy League Award for Exceptional Leadership.
