Statement on the January 6 Violence on Capitol Hill
(Arlington, VA) January 7, 2021
INSA President Suzanne Wilson Heckenberg today released the following statement regarding the January 6 violence on Capitol Hill.
The Intelligence and National Security Alliance (INSA) strongly condemns yesterday’s violent, unlawful insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. The assault on Congress and disruption of the Constitutionally mandated electoral process was an attack on our democracy and the values we hold dear.
We extend our gratitude to the members of the Capitol Police, the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, DC, and other federal law enforcement officials for putting themselves in harm’s way, protecting elected officials and their staffs, and enabling Congress to resume the counting of Electoral College votes.
We ask Americans, of all beliefs and backgrounds, to come together to support our democratic institutions and everyone–in both the public and private sectors–who work diligently to advance U.S. national security and keep Americans safe.
INSA–which is dedicated to promoting collaboration between government, industry, and academia–is founded on the premise that together we are better. We know that diversity of thought, background, and perspective are invaluable to our nation’s success. More than ever before, it is critical that we tap into our collective strengths to address the pressing issues and challenges we face in a peaceful, civil manner.
