Research Internship

Research Internship
INSA has created a unique forum in which the once-independent efforts of intelligence professionals, industry leaders of all stripes and academic experts come together. INSA's members, white papers and symposia are laying the academic foundation on which the Intelligence Community of the 21st century will be built.

INSA’s internship program is a vital part of this foundation. They provide a high quality policy research and advocacy group, attuned to the most recent issues and viewpoints of the day. Energetic and determined interns can go far at INSA, former INSA interns have gone on work at exciting and important positions all across the Intelligence Community, including Deloitte Consulting, the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency and even the Pentagon.

Intern Duties
Interns will spend the majority of their time researching and assisting the Councils with their projects. The intern will participate in Council meetings with senior government and industry executives and be actively involved in the development of white papers and research projects that the Councils undertake. Interns have the opportunity to be primary contributors to research and the drafting and editing processes of these projects.

These efforts will include independent research to discover necessary facts and actors, as well as provide independent, scholarly analysis. In addition interns will likely be asked to present their findings to their task force in a briefing. Interns are encouraged to use all resources at their disposal, including academic research databases and contacts, to provide the most complete set of facts and appraisals to their task force.

In addition, interns will have the opportunity to support INSA events: listening to well-known speakers from various intelligence and security fields and providing themselves with great opportunities to meet and network with people in these sectors.
